Dr Anita Nolan qualified as a doctor, and later as a dentist, before completing specialist training in Oral
Medicine at the Eastman Dental Institute in London where she worked with internationally recognised
experts in orofacial pain. She holds a Fellowship of RCSI (Oral Medicine), a master’s degree in Medical
Law, and an MD by research. She has held national roles in the UK and New Zealand in specialist dental
education, clinical standards, and professional development. Her current research projects are the
genetic and prognostic significance of oral lesions in Crohns Disease, salivary gland disease, and the
role of Vitamin D in oral disease. Anita holds honorary public hospital appointment in Auckland and
Dunedin, and provides private consultations at Waitemata Specialist Centre, North Shore, Auckland, and
various other centres.
