Mr Jeremy McMahon studied both undergraduate dentistry and medicine in New Zealand where he grew up.
After completing his Medical degree in 1991 Mr McMahon had a one year internship at the Royal Melbourne
Hospital in Australia. He subsequently returned to New Zealand to a General surgical training post. In 1994,
Mr McMahon travelled to the West of Scotland and commenced a five year specialty training in Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery. After successfully completing this he travelled back to Australia for a year fellowship
training in Head and Neck Surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
Mr McMahon has been a consultant Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgeon in the UK since 2000, having
worked in Lanarkshire and Sheffield before taking up his current post at the Southern General Hospital in
2005. His main clinical interests are head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.
Mr McMahon has published more than 20 peer reviewed journal articles, most of which relate to these clinical
interests. He has also co-authored three text book chapters, contributed to UK clinical guideline development
for the management of head and neck cancer, and presented at many clinical symposia and conferences.
